World AIDS Day

December 1st is World AIDS Day. To many people this will be another day on the calendar but for many of us it is a day to remember all those people whom we personally know, or have known, that are infected/affected by this disease. The global statistics on HIV/AIDS are mind numbing and hard to grasp even for those who have worked on the frontlines of the epidemic. It's only when you see the personal face of HIV/AIDS that you begin to realize it's devastating impact and how those faceless numbers mask a global tragedy of epic proportions. From heroin addicts in Boston to orphans in Lesotho the fabric of this epidemic is woven from people's individual stories of untold suffering, courage, and fortitude. Please take a moment out of your life this holiday season and consider making a donation of time or money to a local or international organization that is working to combat this horrific disease.

"Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame, but for greatness,
because greatness is determined by service."
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
